About Jacque Hillman

Jacque Hillman is a West Tennessee native who is a senior partner in The HillHelen Group LLC media services, where her role is editing, interviewing, ghostwriting and designing for print, broadcast and online. She also implements social media and marketing strategies for clients ranging from Boston, Atlanta, L.A. and Phoenix to Tennessee.

Jacque is the owner/designer of Reconfigured Art Jewelry. She was chosen Tennessee Association of Craft Artists Emerging Artist of the Year for her Reconfigured Art Jewelry designs. She was featured on the PBS TV show, “Tennessee Crossroads.”  She shows her work annually in the juried Pink Palace Show in Memphis and in other shows, such as “Treasures for the Holidays” at Opryland.

On Nov. 12, 2016, Jacque was honored to receive the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation’s Jackson Award in the Arts. The Jackson Awards were established by the Foundation in 2006 to honor those in the community who exemplify the truest qualities of a leader. The awards are named for President Andrew Jackson, the City of Jackson’s namesake, and are presented to individuals who have served as leaders in one of the following areas: the arts, community service, education, healthcare, leadership and volunteer service.

Former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen chose Jacque to be one of five to receive a Tennessee scholarship for the Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy, Delta Regional Authority, Class of 2010-2011. During that year, she studied economic factors influencing eight states in the Delta Region. She remains active in the DLI network.

Jacque was an award-winning writer and editor at The Jackson Sun for 23 years; among other innovations — she created two new magazines, “The Sterling Awards: 20 Most Influential Women in West Tennessee” and “Jackson Life.” She’s a past multiple winner of the Gannett Corp. Public Service award and winner of the Publisher’s Award of Excellence.

Jacque is the past state president for Business and Professional Women of Tennessee Inc.   She was the BPW/USA National Speak-off Top Five finalist in 2008. She received the Kay Culbertson Mentorship Award from BPW/TN for her work helping business women in Tennessee. She is an active member of Jackson Area BPW.

In 2014, Jacque was honored to be selected for the 2014 Sterling Awards: 20 Most Influential Women in West Tennessee. She serves on the Tennessee Woman’s Suffrage Monument board; on the Jackson-Madison County Library Foundation board; and on the board for Area Relief Ministries. She is a member of the Women’s Political Collaborative of Tennessee Inc. and of the Jackson Exchange Club. She is also a co-founder and president of the Hatchie Bottom Diva Society.

A member of the Tennessee Craft Association, she is the co-founder and president of the West Tennessee Artisan Trail for regional artisans, developing regional art shows and promoting juried artists and regional authors.

She was selected to design 200 limited edition Perfect 36 Society brooches for the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument. She serves as president of the Sue Shelton White Public Art Committee for Jackson, working to fund a sculpture to honor the renowned state suffragist, the first female attorney in Jackson, as part of the state’s 2020 woman suffrage heritage tourism trail.

Jacque graduated from Millsaps College with a degree in English, secondary education and a minor in history. She taught English for 10 years in Mississippi. Graduate work was at Mississippi State University and University of Memphis.

She is married to Jesse G. Hillman, who works in computer security for the State of Tennessee. She has two daughters, Sara Waide Bowers, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Chandler, Ariz. Realtor, and Lea Waide Bradley, owner, LeaWaide.com and beyondthirty.net, in Los Angeles.
